3 Like a cocky teenager who's had a couple of drinks before the party, they don't have a plan for who they want to offend, only an intention to be as offensive as possible.

6 ...a thin send-up of Jerry Bruckheimer-style action flicks such as Pearl Harbor and Armageddon.

9 No, it's not as all-out genius as South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, but that's a small argument for the hard-core fans.

8 ...a hilariously bawdy no-holds-barred satire, using marionettes to string together a tale of WMDs, rogue states, the War on Terror, and Alec Baldwin.

9 Preposterously juvenile but fiendishly clever...

5 ...undeniably offensive and occasionally very funny.

7 ...there really isn't 90 minutes worth of material here, more like 60 with some dead spots and some jokes repeated until they lose their punch. But for offensive hilarity, this is the hottest ticket in town.

8 The funniest, filthiest, and--as surprising as it may seem--shrewdest politically-minded film of this election year.
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers
8 ...a ruthlessly clever musical, a punchy political parody and the hottest look ever at naked puppets...

Owen Gleiberman
7 ...I was amused more or less throughout by the ingeniously designed and executed stunt that is Team America.
New York Times

7 ...more satisfying as a straight-ahead blow 'em up than as a satire.
Los Angeles Times
Kenneth Turan
5 The South Park gang has fashioned a dazzling puppet universe, but the cast is left hanging by a script long on shock but short on humor.

7 ...spoofs politics and movies, the latter more wittily than the former.
LA Weekly

6 ...an accomplished yet uneven feature...
Village Voice

6 No matter how you parse it, the South Park guys' election-season intervention is a flag-waving, fag-baiting farce that—all puppet all the time—celebrates, even as it debunks, good old-fashioned American know-how.
Onion AV Club
Keith Phipps
8 ...a puppet-filled action-film send-up that also serves as a scarily accurate barometer of the current political climate.
Maxim
Paul Ulane
10 Mocking politically unconscious Hollywood big wheels, power-mad foreign dictators, and, essentially, any jerk living in the United States, Team America delivers more than just a potty-mouthed puppet movie.
Premiere
Aaron Hillis
6 ...wisely unbiased--but also unfocused, uneducated, and underachieving--which makes for an occasionally hilarious, frequently anemic parody that misses its opportunity to permanently document a scathing critique of current events.
Christian Science Monitor
David Sterritt
5 What deprives the movie of any real impact is the deep-down inanity of its screenplay, which serves up a dozen supposedly uproarious four-letter words and gross-out gags for every touch of meaningful satire.

Parker and Stone use extremely excessive amounts of vulgarity and obscenity as a substitute for humor. It just does not work! They had a great chance to make social and political commentary but blew it on cheap dialogue.

This is worth seeing if only for the amazing puppet sets they created, and the sex scene, which may be the funniest 20 seconds in film history.

Hilariously awesome!

etchasketch  7

I'd have to agree with dack. The puppet sex scene. Wow. Now that's big time.

madmitch  8

I laughed until I cried then I laughed some more! This is too funny. There are so many wee jabs at so many people from terrorists to actors. The puppet sex scene is hilarious!! See this!

langlitzblog  4

It was ok, but fell asleep towards the end. It just lost my interest.

as juvenile as it gets and more than a little fun.
