7 ...even considering its flaws, DiG! isn't a bad way to spend 80 minutes.

7 It's a fascinating film that manages to touch on subjects as diverse as mental illness and what's wrong with the record industry, set to brilliant music by the one of the best bands you've probably never heard.

9 ...it invites those of us who aren't alt-rock obsessives into the hive, yet it never feels like a dilettante's tour.

7 Timoner’s movie is as much a chronicle of the ways in which the music industry hamstrings careers and collapses upon itself as it is about the dazzling rise of one band and the spectacular implosion of another.

6 It's an amusingly drunken PBS-worthy human-interest doc, unless you're too old or not cool enough to have played in the embarrassing hipster zoo, in which case DiG! may be the closest you'll ever get to the uncaged animals.

it's kind of interesting to see how ****ed up rockstars (even B-C list rockstars and in this case E-F list) let their lives get.

there are the obvious comments about dysfunctional family life and substance abuse, but more interesting than anything else in this rocumentary, is the petty rivalry you get insights into.

it's a pretty decent way to kill an hour and a half if you need to chill.
