6 A only fairly good thriller, but a first-rate Evil Corporation.

7 ...Campbell’s film offers not surprises, exactly, but craftsmanship and low, brute, cunning satisfactions.

6 Grading this movie was a touch call--upon exiting the screening, a C+ seemed about right, but the way certain scenes lingered in the memory afterwards ultimately resulted in our more generous score. If you're not a Gibson fan, or if you prefer humor in his movies, or are a stickler for a better script, go with the lower grade.
Slant Magazine

4 ...a tonally stilted procedural with an inappropriately impassive air, given the hero's quest to avenge a beloved daughter shotgunned to pieces in his presence.
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers
6 ...a mixed bag...
Entertainment Weekly

7 ...a conventional, divertingly propulsive, borderline boilerplate corporate-high-jinks thriller.

5 Edge of Darkness is reasonably well executed, but its competence reeks of fatigue. Another dead kid. Another angry dad. Another day at the office.
Village Voice

7 Onscreen much of the time, thicker and more creased than you remember, he [Gibson] can make this rather unshapely movie seem taut.

5 ...quickly devolves into another showcase for Gibson’s snorting-bull act, a routine he could happily have shelved during his time off.

5 In terms of consistent visceral thrills, Taken this isn't -- despite [director] Campbell's demonstrable flair for shooting action.

Not bad. I enjoyed this more than I expected although the story seems a little rehashed.
