Though Shane Meadows's newest film, This Is England, befittingly captures the milieu and subculture of the 80's, as a whole, it lacks various elements for a stronger, vital, and even more heartbreaking film. And such an aspect is what ultimately abates what could have been an even more fierce, unforgettable film to a nevertheless cunning, yet simple observation.
