very slow start,i had lost interest by the end and forgot about the special effects

Enjoyable.

While there is some fluff in the center of this delicious bit o' cinema delight, it's a marvelous update of the original. Not as solid as Peter Jackson's work with the LOTR trilogy but one well worth seeing. Special effects just have to be seen--KK is the new bar that other movie's special effects will be judged against.

I wanted to dislike it. I didn't. It gets long, especially when you already KNOW he's gonna climb the building. Some scenes seemed to drag (roaches, first contact with the natives) but the eye-candy kept me interested. Worth three hours? Tough call.

It was a good movie - not a great one. This was due to the special effects... that were btw aped from Jurassic Park! This does not meet epic proportions. I would wait for the DVD.

Great special effects, but it just isn't very good compared to the original. Sometimes you just can't stretch a short movie into a long "Peter Jackson" mellow drama and this is it.

Read the Cliff Notes for the first hour of the script, take your seat just before they find the island, then sitback (while you still can) and prepare to be blown away.

Good movie, cool effects. I'll have to go see the original now!

It may be heretics opinion, but KONG is just 3 Hours of bad film.

I would probably like this film more if the hype surrounding it hadn't made it seem like the best thing since CGI to hit cinema. It is, at its core, a very difficult story to adapt and fit to today's values. Jackson adds depth to the original film by changing Kong from a savage beast into a likable, grand creature with human characteristics. The film has also changed the role of Ann Darrow. In the original film, she was terrified of Kong and was glad when he was killed. In this film, she builds up a sort of friendship with Kong, and even tries to save him from the planes' attack at the grand finale. However, this film was also slightly long winded, there were some parts that should've been removed at the editor's table. I left the theatre thinking about the film, which was a good sign, but the thoughts were more about what this could've done better rather than what it did well. But hey, mabye that's just me.

Overall grade, B+
